Ethan, being the innocent 5 (almost 6) year old that he is, melts my heart with his sweet thoughts and words. Today, I asked him what they did in school. He said the same thing as every other day, "Nothing". I asked if they learned about Veteran's day. He said no, and asked what that was. While tears welled up in my eyes and a huge lump developed in my throat, I tried to explain to him that it is a day set aside to thank all the soldiers. When I finished he said "Well, what did you do?" and I asked what he meant and he said "Did you thank the soldiers for keeping us safe?" and with tears rolling down my face, all I could mutter was "Yes, I thanked the soldiers". Man, I LOVE that little guy.
